Close up of Reverse Flow Chevy Engine

Picture credit: staff photo from http://www.shoreviewphoto.com/
The carb sets on this reverse flow engine are off of a motorcycle. Note the connecting tubes that on one end bolt to what was the exhaust ports of the heads and on the other end to the base of the carb. It was quite a feat to get everything to line up and seal. A two piece adapter plate was made for the Ford flat head distributor and the base of this plate was then positioned and welded to an aftermarket Chevy timing chain cover. The other part of the adapter plate sits on the first part and allows distributor rotation.
Obviously a different cam is required and a custom cam was ground from the builders specifications. With this engine in a Rat Rod you get the looks and with the sound and performance you get looks of amazement.

It really one outstanding unique vehicle and a really fun ride. Besides with the exhaust pipes going straight up for the former intake ports you are never going to burn your leg on the headers after you park.

One great piece of engineering. Wait until you see the one of a kind wheel bolted on the back for an appearance spare. This will be posted later.
